
Sara Evans has only had the one goal in her life that she has always had she has always wanted to compose and perform country music. "God gave me this earth to be singing," said Evans, in a quote by John Meroney of American Enterprise. "It's my passion to perform more than anything else, and I'm going to achieve it happen." In addition, Evans wanted to succeed by reverting to traditional country tunes that were brought to life by famous stars like Patsy Cline, Hank Snow, Tammy Wynette, George Jones and Patty Loveless, musicians Evans believed to be her biggest influencers. Evans born in 1970 made her mark in the mid 90s, in which many young country music artists turned towards contemporary pop songs. That is evident on her 1997 debut album, True Lies. True Lies was not a popular hit, despite having been highly praised by critics and getting an Academy of Country Music nomination for the top female vocalist. So, when she released her second album, No Place That Far in 1999, No Place That Far, Evans bowed to producers, who convinced her to update her repertoire, and then finally received the appreciation she'd always wanted since the age of her first.
